Achieve Flawless Skin with a Nighttime Skincare Routine

 
 

I’ve been so happy to be home for the holidays here in Chicago. However, the brink of winter’s harsh chill is still upon us. Now, that the air outside is colder and drier, it’s hard to retain the moisture in our skin. Lately, I’ve noticed that my normal nighttime skincare routine isn’t enough! So… I finally got ahold of that gorgeous blue aluminum tube, Summer Fridays and the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask at my local Sephora. Here’s my new step by step nighttime skincare routine for the winter.

Step 1: Cleanse

I have always been obsessed with washing my face morning and night since I was young. So its always important to me to remove all my makeup before I go to bed. If I do wear eye makeup, I’ll normally remove that first with some eye makeup remover like Neutrogena oil free eye makeup remover or Simple Kind to Skin eye makeup remover. Next, I cleanse my face with the Pacifica Coconut Milk Cream to Foam Face Wash which doesn’t have any harsh chemicals that causes over drying of your skin.

Step 2: Apply Serum

I apply the Glossier Super Glow serum to my face because normal moisturizer doesn’t penetrate the skin as well and just sits on top of your skin. So, in order for your skin to really retain the moisture, you have to put something that will really get absorbed like a serum.

Step 3: Moisturizer

Then I evenly apply the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask all over my face and neck. Marianna Hewitt the co-creator of Summer Fridays suggested using the mask in one of two ways. Either you can apply a thick layer over your face and blot off after 10 mins or for extra hydration leave the mask on over night.

Step 4: Eye Serum

Now, that I’m in my late 20’s it’s important that I add an anti-aging regime to my routine as well. Lately, I’ve been using the Kiehl’s Multi Corrective Eye Opening Serum along with the Nurse Jamie Eyeonix. They both claim to reduce puffiness, dark circles, and tighten the eye area. Since I’ve been using this combination, I’ve noticed my under-eye darkness, dryness, and puffiness have in fact improved!

Step 5: Lip Mask/Moisturizer

Concluding my nighttime routine, I apply a small amount of the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask to my lips. It comes with a little spatula to scoop out the product and you simply just apply it on your lips. If there is any excess in the morning, just wipe it off and apply your normal lip moisturizer. This may be a bit to heavy to wear during the day, but I always wake up with a plush and smooth pout.
